How we quote
How We Quote a Commercial Floor
A quote from a phone call is a guess. A real quote starts with the floor itself: we walk the slab, test the concrete, test the surface preparation and test for moisture, then choose the system that suits what we found. This is what a Hardbond floor assessment covers, and what you get at the end of it.
The assessment
Four tests before we name a system
Most coating failures start with something nobody checked. These four steps find it first.
1. We walk the slab
We walk the whole floor and look at the real conditions: cracks, spalls, joints, old coatings, patches, stains, and where water and traffic hit hardest. Photos and drawings miss things. The slab does not.
2. We test the concrete
Soft or weak concrete cannot hold a coating, however good the product. We test the surface hardness so we know whether the slab needs densifying, deeper grinding or repair first.
3. We test the profile
We test which machines and tooling profile your floor properly, grinding or shot blasting, so the coating gets the texture it needs to bond. The wrong method is a common cause of peeling. See grinding & prep.
4. We test for moisture
Moisture rising through the slab lifts coatings and causes blisters. We test before we specify, so you know whether you need a moisture-tolerant system. See moisture mitigation.
Step 5
Then we choose the system that fits your floor
Only now do we name a system. The test results, your use of the space and your schedule decide it.
Matched to the slab
Hardness, profile and moisture results decide the prep method and the primer.
Matched to your use
Traffic, chemicals, temperature and cleaning decide the system. See epoxy cost and polishing cost.
Matched to your schedule
Cure times and phasing decide the plan: weekend installs, overnight by arrangement, or phased sections.
A written scope
One document: system, prep, thickness, schedule and price per sq ft, so quotes can be compared fairly.
The Hardbond Floor Assessment
$3,500, credited to your project if you hire us
This level of assessment is a standalone diagnostic, not a sales visit. You receive a complete A to Z report of every issue found in your floor and exactly how to solve each one. The report is yours to keep whether or not you hire Hardbond. If you do hire us, the full $3,500 is credited against the project cost.
What is in the report
The A to Z report you receive

Cracks, spalls, joints, delamination, moisture and soft areas, with photos and locations.
02
Test results
Hardness, profile and moisture readings, with what each result means.
03
The fix for each issue
The repair method, the prep and the system for every problem, in plain language.
04
Priced options
Scope and price per sq ft, with the option to fix the floor in phases.
Why it is paid

Questions
Before you call
Straight answers to what facility managers ask us most.
-
The Hardbond floor assessment is $3,500. If you hire Hardbond for the project, the full fee is credited against the project cost.
-
Yes. The A to Z report is yours to keep and use with any contractor. It lists every issue found in your floor and exactly how to fix each one.
-
A phone quote can only guess at what is in the slab. Hardness, surface profile and moisture decide the prep and the system, and the only way to know them is to test the floor.
-
It depends on the size of the floor. We confirm the timing when you book, and you receive the written report once testing is complete.

Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, including Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, Markham and Oakville. Larger projects elsewhere in Ontario are quoted case by case.
