Cold storage
Cold Storage & Freezer Flooring in Toronto
Coolers, freezers and cold storage warehouses are brutal on floors: sub-zero slabs, thermal shock from washdowns, condensation and constant forklift traffic. Hardbond installs urethane cement and cold-rated resin systems built for those conditions across Toronto, the GTA and Ontario.
What goes wrong
Why cold-room floors fail
Standard epoxy cracks and lets go in freezers. These are the problems we design around.
Thermal shock
Hot washdowns on frozen floors crack rigid coatings. Urethane cement handles the swing.
Cold-cure limits
Many resins will not cure below 10°C. We use cold-cure systems or schedule around shutdowns.
Ice & slips
Condensation at dock doors makes floors slick. We add grit for traction. See anti-slip.
Forklift wear
Heavy traffic at freezer doors and joints. See joint filling and food-grade.
Why cold floors fail
Ordinary coatings crack in the cold
Many standard epoxies become brittle at low temperatures and crack or debond when hot water hits a cold slab. Cold rooms need a system designed for it.
Urethane cement
Handles freezing temperatures, thermal shock and washdowns, and stays bonded where standard coatings fail.
Slip resistance
Textured finishes for floors that see condensation, frost and spills.
Cove base & drains
Integral cove base and sloping to drains for sanitary, washable rooms.
Scheduled around product
Phased installs and fast-cure systems to limit how long coolers and freezers are out of service.
Food, pharma & logistics
Cold floors for every cold chain
Walk-in coolers in restaurants, freezer rooms in food plants, cold storage warehouses and temperature-controlled pharma storage. See urethane cement, food-grade flooring, commercial kitchens and our guide to urethane cement vs epoxy.

Yes. We phase large floors in sections and schedule nights and weekends so your team keeps working.

Some systems can be installed at low temperatures, but most freezer floors are installed with the room warmed up or taken out of service in phases. We plan the shutdown with you.

Standard epoxy becomes brittle in the cold and can crack or debond with thermal shock from washdowns. Urethane cement is designed for those conditions.
